Due to ongoing supply chain challenges, the cost of JACE 9000 SD cards has increased significantly. In addition, SD card availability has become increasingly constrained.
In response, Tridium has decided to modify the JACE 9000 licensing model so that an SD card is no longer required for licensing or operation. The JACE 9000 already has the ability to generate an internal Host ID, which provides the foundation for this change.
Over the coming months, Tridium will begin implementing the ability to license and operate JACE 9000 controllers without an SD card. They will support both SD card and non-SD card configurations during the transition period, allowing customers to continue using existing SD card while also supporting future hardware shipments that will no longer include an SD card.
For orders accepted by Tridium after September 18, 2026, you will have the option to bind a JACE license to either the internal Host ID or to a microSD (uSD) card.
Tridium will be able to support the following licensing conditions. Self-serve transfers are not yet available.
- JACE 9000 SD transfer to JACE 9000 without SD
- JACE 9000 without SD to a JACE 9000 without SD
They will also create a new SKU to distinguish JACE 9000s with non-SD card configurations.
