Overview
Johnson Controls is transitioning to a new vendor for terminal block connectors for SNC, CG series, CV series, CC series, and XPM products. This update improves mechanical robustness and reduces the risk of field damage associated with terminal screw overtorque, while maintaining equivalent electrical performance. Analysis identified a susceptibility to over-torque damage on the existing removable terminal blocks. To improve field reliability and serviceability, new terminal blocks have been qualified as a direct-fit replacement with improved resistance to over-torque conditions.
Torque Specifications
■ Preferred Torque 0.4 Nm (3.54 in-lbs)
■ Maximum Torque Do not exceed 0.5 Nm (4.43 in-lbs)
■ Recommended screwdriver bit Phillips #1 or Slotted 1/8 in. (3.0 mm)
Tightening Guidance
Use a torque screwdriver set to 0.4 Nm whenever possible. If a torque screwdriver is not available, tighten the screw until snug, then apply no more than an additional half turn (180°). Do not use powered or electric screwdrivers.
