Tridium transitioned Niagara to the Azul Java Runtime Environment (JRE) beginning with Niagara 4.10u8 and Niagara 4.13u3. These releases and all subsequent Niagara releases utilize Azul JRE and do not require Oracle Java licensing.
NIAGARA SUPERVISOR GUIDANCE
Customers who anticipate deploying NEW Niagara Supervisors running any of the following versions are encouraged to purchase the LEGACY-JRE software option before November 29, 2026 and place those licenses into inventory for future use. The LEGACY-JRE option will not be available for purchase after that date.
These releases require Oracle JRE licensing:
- Niagara 4.9 and earlier
- Niagara 4.11
- Niagara 4.12
As a reference, the following versions utilize the Azul JRE and do not require the LEGACY-JRE option:
- Niagara 4.10u8
- Niagara 4.13u3
- Any later Niagara release
WORKBENCH (SUP-DEMO) GUIDANCE
Systems Integrators and partners anticipating needing NEW Workbench Demo (SUP-DEMO) licenses capable of running stations based on the following versions are encouraged to purchase the necessary SUP-DEMO licenses before November 29, 2026.
- Niagara 4.9 and earlier
- Niagara 4.11
- Niagara 4.12
Niagara 4.10u8, 4.13u3 or any later Niagara release versions leverage the Azul-based runtime environment and do not require the LEGACY-JRE option.
RECOMMENDED ACTION
Tridium strongly recommends that partners take the following steps promptly to ensure readiness before November 29, 2026:
- Details of supported and retired versions of Niagara can be found on the Niagara Community when you log in to your account.
- Review installed Niagara versions across customer deployments.
- Identify any systems that will remain on Niagara 4.9, 4.11, or 4.12.
- Purchase required LEGACY-JRE SW option for NEW Supervisor licenses before November 29, 2026 for future deployments.
- Purchase any needed SUP-DEMO licenses before November 29, 2026 if support for legacy Niagara versions will be required
