Introducing the Modernized Wireless Sensor Receiver by: Johnson Controls

Wireless SA Bus Receiver

Johnson Controls® is pleased to announce the modernization of the Wireless Sensor-Actuator Receiver, a wireless solution designed for zone-level HVAC applications. The WLSR8000 provides a simple alternative to a full wireless mesh architecture, delivering reliable wireless sensing where the complexity of coordinators, routers, and mesh infrastructure is unnecessary.

The WLSR8000 provides reliable wireless communication between NSW8000 Wireless Sensors and BACnet® MS/TP HVAC equipment, delivering temperature, humidity, occupancy, and CO₂ data without extensive field wiring.

The WLSR8000 modernizes Johnson Controls' one-to-one wireless offering with improved wireless performance, secure Zigbee communications, BACnet diagnostics, and support for modern wireless sensing applications, including CO₂ monitoring.

Built on Johnson Controls' proven wireless technology, the WLSR8000 delivers improved wireless performance, secure communications, BACnet diagnostics, and support for sensing applications including CO₂ monitoring.

Key features and benefits

Support for up to nine wireless sensors

  • Connect a single WLSR8000 to as many as nine NSW8000 Wireless Sensors.
  • Receive temperature, humidity, occupancy, and CO₂ data from connected sensors.
  • Supports both single-sensor and multi-sensor deployments.
Note: The WLSR8000 replaces the legacy WRZ-7860 receiver and operates exclusively with NSW8000 Wireless Sensors. The WLSR8000 is not compatible with legacy WRZ sensors

Flexible wireless sensing architecture

  • Ideal for zone-level installations where a full wireless mesh network is not required.
  • Eliminates the need for wireless coordinators and routers in one-to-one deployments.
  • Simplify deployments in retrofit and hard-to-wire applications.

Modernized wireless platform

  • Based on Johnson Controls proven ZFR183x wireless technology.
  • Features a 100mW radio for extended wireless coverage in zone-level applications without requiring a wireless mesh infrastructure.
  • Provides a typical wireless range of up to 150 ft (45 m).
  •  Supports secure Zigbee communications with AES-128 network-layer security.

Enhanced visibility and diagnostics

  • BACnet device visibility and built-in diagnostics assist troubleshooting.
  • Supports device-level configuration, monitoring, updates, and diagnostics through the CWCVT Communications Converter.

Broad system integration

  •  Integrates with Johnson Controls SA Bus applications and third-party systems that support BACnet protocol for end devices.
  • Supports controller integration through GSAB packages and legacy Net Sensor interfaces without requiring controller firmware
    updates.

Scalable deployment

  • Supports up to 1,000 radio PAN addresses.
  • Enables multiple wireless WLSR8000 networks to operate in parallel.
  • Supports two WLSR8000 receivers per compatible MS/TP bus for greater installation flexibility.
